 2018 Preview 


       Providence Christian completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region two, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Providence Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Gordo by a score of 34-7.

       Providence Christian was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Eagles want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.7 points a game.

       Since 2010, Providence Christian has gone a combined 49-34. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 12 seasons, Providence Christian has managed to compile a record of 70-55. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 3A and 127th in the AHSAA.




       The Eagles are led by head coach Kenny Keith who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 34-26 over the past six seasons at Providence Christian. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Keith.

       Coach Keith's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 34-26 (56.7%).

       The Providence Christian Eagles will play in Class 3A region two during the 2018 season.

       The Eagles will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season.

       The Eagles open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent New Brockton on Friday, August 24. Last year the New Brockton Gamecocks finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 2A region three. The Gamecocks lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to St. Lukes by a score of 42-21.

       Providence Christian and New Brockton have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 10-2-0 record against the Gamecocks. They last met in 2015 with New Brockton winning by a score of 20-13.
